Bollywood Celebrities You Didn’t Know Belonged To Royal Families

We all know that there are some Bollywood celebrities who are not only famous for their acting skills but also for their royal roots. So here is a list of the Bollywood stars who belong to royal family.

1. Aditi Rao Hydari

 Born into two royal lineages, Aditi Rao Hydari is the great grand daughter of Akbar Hydari and the grandniece of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, former Governor of Assam. Her maternal grandparents, Raja J Rameshwar Rao, headed the administration of Wanaparthy state and Shanta Rameshwar Rao, was a respected educationalist of Hyderabad and the Chairperson of Orient Blackswan publishing house. Aditi chose to act and started her Bollywood career in the year 2007.

 2. Kiran Rao

The director Kiran Rao belongs to the royal family of J. Rameshwar Rao. Her grandfather was the Raja of Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar district, Telangana. She is married to the Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan. Kiran is also related to the actor Aditi Rao Hydari; they both are first cousins.

3. Sonal Chauhan

Sonal belongs to a traditional Rajput family from Manipuri, Uttar Pradesh. This beautiful actress, best known for her role in Jannat, was born and raised in Delhi.


4. Soha and Saif Ali Khan 

Their father, late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was the former captain of the Indian cricket team and the titular Nawab of Pataudi from 1952 to 1971. Their paternal grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, was the eighth Nawab of Pataudi, their paternal grandmother, Sajida Sultan, was Begum of Bhopal. The stature of ‘nawab of Pataudi’ was passed onto Saif, in 2011 after his father’s demise.

5. Bhagyashree

The actor best known for debuting in the movie Maine Pyaar Kiya, opposite Salman Khan hails from the royal family of Sangli, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan, the Raja of Sangli.

6. Riya and Raima Sen

Actresses Riya and Raima Sen hail from the royal family of Tripura. Riya and Raima Sen are daughters of the famous Indian film actor, Moon Moon Sen. Their paternal great-grandmother was the only daughter of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda and their paternal grandmother, Ila Devi, was the princess of Cooch Behar and the elder sister of Gayatri Devi, who was the Maharani of Jaipur.

6. Alisa Khan

You might have seen Alisa Khan in several music videos. Hailing from the royal lineage of Mohammad Nawab Ghaziauddin Khan after whom the entire Ghaziabad in Delhi NCR is named, actress Alisa Khan was last seen in the movie, My Husband’s Wife.
